We are ONE week away from our flight to Zambia. Nervous? Nah. just wishing our things would pack themselves.
I'm not only packing in person, but also in my dreams, in my head while showering, and pretty much all hours of the day. It has consumed my life. With Webster included we will likely have 22 full size suitcases, 4 carry on bags, 4 personal bags, a stroller, and 2 carseats. My house literally looks like something has exploded in there.
We are armed with enough electronics to theoretically keep our kids busy for hours on end... and dramamine for the motion sickness inflicted child. I'm worried a little about the time change (8 hours difference) as well as the 9 hour layover in London before our second flight to Zambia. When we land, our brains will think it's 3am so I'm guessing the kids will be sleepy, grumpy, and at least 3 other dwarves worth of emotions. I bought the coolest little carryon suitcase to amuse Madison at the airport. I'm sure I'll regret it if we are in a hurry but with such long layovers I think I'm safe. It's called a trunki and she can ride it about.
I'm really super excited to BE in Zambia (minus the travel time). I can't wait to meet all of my husband's family! I have never met any of my in-laws, nieces, or nephews. Sylvester is one of 10 children from his mother's side of the family. That means the kids and I have lots of family to meet!
I'm really excited to get to the school and work with the teachers and students. We are bringing a laptop for the teachers to work on (the first computer ever at the school) and I've written lots of spreadsheets and have new supplies to bring with me. Thanks to an awesome friend, all the teachers and students will have new name tags. I think Brandon is most excited about working at the school too. At first I though that he would just sit nicely in each classroom as the lessons were taught... as it turns out he is ready and willing to teach the lessons. He really wants to get involved and make a difference.
