Sylvester and I have been talking and praying a lot about going back to Zambia this summer. He will for sure be going and has begun to secure some of the funding. I feel like I really need to be there too. I started a lot of projects with the teachers at the ZVG Academy that I left unfinished. I feel like I could make so much more of a difference for the children at the school if I could just go back and finish what I started. Of course we would be taking Brandon and Madison with us. They consider Zambia to be their other home and have plenty of family to hang out with while we work at the school.
I've been working for the Teach One International ministry a lot this year so it's been a constant reminder and has caused a brainstorm of ideas on how to make this years trip happen.
I know that we asked a lot of our friends and family for help last year through our fundraising. We understand that not everyone will be able to give to this cause year after year. So we are asking for help with fundraising ideas instead of money itself... unless you have an extra dollar or two... we will take that too of course!
Do you have an idea on how the Sichangwa family can fundraise to hit our goal of $12,000? We found a few local businesses that might partner with us. For example, there is a frozen yogurt place in Frisco, TX that would agree to donate a % of sales of the people that came in saying that they were there to support our fundraising effort. That's great, but how many people in Frisco do we really know that we could convince to buy frozen yogurt on the same day? Maybe if you have a big company, or belong to a mission minded church, you could help. We could find a local organization where ever you live and you could use your contacts to ask people to go out on that specific day and support the Sichangwa family on their mission to Zambia.
Or maybe your church likes to do fundraiser dinners, or you know a local business who might want to help? Maybe your sunday school class would want to work together to sponsor us? Maybe your school would like to do a fun run and give the procedess to our trip
If you have any ideas for us, please let us know!!! We know that God has called us to be there and to help those children, we just need to figure out how to get there. We have prayed about it for months and we know that God will provide a way. We also agree that we ought not to sit around and wait for something to happen. If we forget to listen for His answer, we would be loosing out on a wonderful opportunity. We also agree it's not likely that God will drop cash from the sky, but we do know that He will open up a door and make all of our fundraising possible. We are hoping that you may have a key to that door.

My former high school youth minister Keith Jones posted this quote on facebook this morning. Made me stop and think. Keith is a wise, caring man with a truly funny sense of humor. Hope that he knows what a difference he made in my life! |
